SerDes Design and Signal Integrity Analysis of USB4 v2.0 with MATLAB

Overview

The USB-IF is currently moving from NRZ to PAM3 modulation for its next generation USB standard. This is due to both the need for higher data rates and increased bandwidth in USB communications. PAM3 modulation introduces new challenges and opportunities for USB in SerDes design and signal integrity analysis of the USB link.

In this presentation, you will learn how to create a USB SerDes system using PAM3 modulation along with transmitter and receiver equalization to overcome various forms of impairments like crosstalk and jitter. You will also learn how the transmitter and receiver models can be used for signal integrity channel analysis.

Highlights

  • SerDes analysis for PAM3 modulation for USB4 v2.0
  • Equalization of crosstalk, jitter, and other impairments
  • Statistical and time-domain channel analysis
  • IBIS-AMI model generation for SerDes and channel verification
