at Black Is Tech

Sarah Mohamed is a software engineer at MathWorks, working on deep learning in the Statistics and Machine Learning group. Her team builds tools that enable scientists and engineers to exchange deep neural networks between MATLAB and other tools, such as PyTorch, ONNX™, and TensorFlow™. She has also worked as an application support engineer, helping customers to investigate and overcome technical challenges in their own machine and deep learning applications.

Sarah loves teaching and building tech that empowers women to tackle tough problems in fun and engaging ways. She delivered the interactive virtual workshop “Do You See What I See? Using AI and AR” at vGHC 20, Women in Data Science (WiDS) 2021, and Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) East 2021. She also delivered the workshop “Pocket AI and IoT” in person at GHC 19.

Sarah holds dual bachelor’s degrees in computer science and biology from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in computational science and engineering from Harvard University.

Louvere Walker-Hannon is a MathWorks application engineering senior team lead who provides technical guidance and strategic direction on the implementation of AI and data science workflows for various applications. She also manages a team of application engineers. She has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering and a master’s degree in geographic information technology with a specialization in remote sensing. Louvere has worked in three different engineering roles throughout her 20-plus-year career at MathWorks.

Louvere has presented and continues to present at several STEM-related conferences on various topics and is an active STEM advocate. She has presented her work on natural language processing and presented AI workshops at various conferences. Louvere has presented her AI work at the Grace Hopper Celebration (2018–2020, 2022), Women in Data Science (WiDS), and other conferences. Louvere was a keynote speaker as a part of the Black in AI workshop for NeurIPS 2021. Louvere has a long history of serving as a STEM advocate and mentor especially related to underrepresented groups in technology. Louvere frequently volunteers with Black Girls CODE, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) African American and Latinos Affinity Groups, and the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE). She is also a recent recipient of the SWE WE Local 2022 Engaged Advocate Award, which honors individuals who contributed to the advancement or acceptance of women in engineering.  She became a WiDS Ambassador in 2022. She also was placed on the list of 2023 Charles River MetroWest 50 Most Influential Business Leaders of Color. In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering, advocating for STEM youth outreach for underrepresented groups in STEM, and helping as many people as possible via her work and volunteerism. Louvere is excited and honored to present at the Black Is Tech Conference in person in 2023!

Craig Santos is the senior director of Training Services at MathWorks, a software company dedicated to accelerating the pace of science and engineering. In this role, he provides leadership and coaching for all aspects of the business, including product development, business strategy direction, operational management, service delivery, and success accountability. An experienced business leader, Craig Santos is skilled with directing large teams towards aligned objectives. 

Craig holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and an M.B.A. with a focus on technical management. He is a military veteran and enjoys CrossFit and Spartan racing in his off time.

Glenn Arnold is a principal program manager for the Infrastructure Architecture and Tools Department at MathWorks. This department is responsible for enabling the technology and environment required by the company’s development community. He works with management to plan and implement software build and test architecture and tools for MathWorks development, including the introduction of new hardware architectures, operating systems, and compiler platforms to the company.

Glenn has background and experience that includes strategic planning, technology development, product management, program management, business operations, and manufacturing engineering.

Prior to joining MathWorks, Glenn was responsible for program management and operations at EMC in the Advanced Software Division and in Global Product Operations. Prior to EMC, he worked at Lucent Technologies/AT&T in various positions in computer design, product engineering, international strategic supplier management, product management, and quality. He has worked in multiple technology areas, including computers, wireless infrastructure, voice switching, data networking, storage management, and network management.

Glenn has a M.B.A. from the Northwestern University Kellogg School of Business and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Stanford University. He also has a bachelor’s degree in physics from Morehouse College and a second bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
