Integrating PK/PD and Mechanistic Modeling with SimBiology and MATLAB

Pharmaceutical research is moving towards mechanism-based drug discovery, using mechanistic or semi-mechanistic models of drug action and efficiency to extend traditional pharmacokinetic (PK) modeling techniques. These mechanism-based models are more suitable for prediction and extrapolation than pure empirical approaches. In this webinar, learn how to use SimBiology and MATLAB to combine compartmental pharmacokinetic models with mechanistic models of drug efficacy.

Using case-studies from literature, we demonstrate:

  • Building custom mechanism-based PK/PD models
  • Fitting data and estimating parameters
  • Exploring system dynamics, using parameter sweeps and sensitivity analysis
  • Simulating dosing strategies
  • Using MATLAB to customize and automate analyses

We also highlight new features in SimBiology 2012b including:

  • Non-compartmental analysis
  • Equation view of the model
  • Share and deploy SimBiology models

Previous knowledge of MATLAB or SimBiology is not required for this webinar.
