Modelling European Power Supply and Demand with MATLAB and Parallel Computing
Lea Bloechlinger, Merill Lynch
In this session, Lea presents a fundamental model for European power markets. The generation of individual power plants in Central-Western Europe is optimised so that power demand can be covered anytime at minimal costs. The model also determines optimal power exchange between countries while considering available transmission capacities. Lea discusses the overall architecture of the stack model and shows approaches to improve performance using Parallel Computing Toolbox™.
