Bus speed (kbps)
R2026bCAN bus bit rate for classical CAN communication
Model Configuration Pane: Hardware Implementation / Hardware board settings / Target hardware resources / Groups / CAN
Description
Specify the bit rate used for communication on the CAN bus when using classical CAN. The CAN Transmit and CAN Receive blocks use this value as the single bit rate for all phases of the CAN frame, including arbitration, control data, and CRC. All nodes connected to the same CAN bus must use the same bit rate to establish a successful communication between CAN peripherals.
The selected bus speed determines the timing of signal transmission on the CAN bus and affects the maximum achievable communication distance.
Note
The configured bit rate applies only to classical CAN communication.
All nodes on the CAN bus must operate at the same bit rate to communicate successfully; mismatched bit rates may result in communication errors.
Higher bit rates support faster data transmission but reduce the maximum supported bus length.
Dependencies
To enable this parameter, set Interface configuration to
Specify via Simulink and set CAN protocol
to Classical CAN. To enable this parameter for additional
interfaces, set Number of interfaces to a value greater than or equal
to the interface number.
Settings
500 (default) | 5 through 1000Select the bus speed in kilobits per second.
500(default)500 kbps. This is the most common bit rate for automotive CAN networks.
- Other values
Available speeds: 5, 10, 20, 40, 50, 80, 100, 125, 200, 250, 500, 1000 kbps. The maximum achievable bit rate is 1000 kbps (1 Mbps) for classical CAN and it depends on the physical bus length and quality of wiring.
