Matlab code works as matlab application but not as standalone version.

The matlab code I created works in Matlab and it also works if I package the code into an application (no errors whatsoever). However, if I deploy a standalone version of the code (by the application compiler), the test version of this standalone quits during the execution. Most likely this happens during the execution of a GUI figure. Does anyone know what could be the problem?

Start the app in a command window so you can see any errors thrown (they will be written to the screen). You might be missing a file (e.g. an image file or a mat file your app may load
