after tracing an object using Matlab is it possible to mark and get the centre coordinates of the outlined object relative to the whole image ?

a plate needs to pick and place a fabric on the exact position on a table which is already known. therefore to get the centre of the fabric i thought of tracing the fabric and marking the centre thereby i need not consider all corners into consideration. but i need some advice on how to mark and get the centre of the fabric which isn't uniform, the coordinates of the centre also needs to be shown.
