Hi I have an audio file (1) of a background noise, and another one (2) containing same background noise + a bird sound lets say. Can i remove the background noise in order to get only the bird sound, by dividing the (FFT1 / FFT 2 ). So is my approach correct? Is it doable in matlab? Are there any alternatives to get the bird sound only ?

Noise elimination is a whole field of study; there are many techniques; some fairly elementary techniques may depend on trying to subtract a noise signal from the noisy signal containing the measurement of interest but one has to be careful in how...
