Description
The SPMM (Suspension Parameter Measuring Machine) is a kinematics and compliance test machine that is driven entirely by electromechanical actuators. It is a moving body fixed ground plane that faithfully replicates the motion of a vehicle on the road. The machine accurately measures the kinematics and compliance characteristics of a vehicle suspension and steering system. Knowledge of these characteristics is essential to provide a thorough understanding of the vehicle performance in terms of ride, impact isolation, steering, and handling.
The post processing and model generation software that is supplied with the SPMM is open source MATLAB code. These tools allow the raw measured data to be processed to generate test reports and vehicle models. The use of open source MATLAB code allows the post processing to be completely customisable for each user. The HMI software for the machine calls an MATLAB code file which runs the processing code, generating plots, and calculated results.
