Supported Hardware - Windows Video Hardware
The Image Acquisition Toolbox supports video capture devices from manufacturers that provide WDM (Windows Driver Model) or VFW (Video for Windows) drivers with their devices. These devices include:
- Scientific video cameras
- USB and FireWire (IEEE-1394, i.LINK) Web cameras
- Video capture boards
- DV camcorders
DirectX Requirements - You need to install Microsoft DirectX version 9.0 or higher on your system to use these devices. See the Troubleshooting section of the Image Acquisition Toolbox documentation for instructions on how to determine which version of DirectX you have installed. Visit the Microsoft DirectX Web site for more information on DirectX, or to download the latest DirectX version.
Testing Your Device for Compatibility - To test your video capture device for compatibility with the toolbox, download and run the Microsoft AMCAP utility. If you can operate your video capture device using AMCAP without encountering any errors, the device should work with the Image Acquisition Toolbox.
Note: This compatibility testing procedure does not apply to other hardware supported by the toolbox. It is only used to determine if the hardware provides a WDM or VFW driver.
