Actuating and Sensing Joints
Kinematic and dynamic motion in mechanical systems modeled in Simscape™ Multibody™ can be driven by actuating joints with forces and prescribing motion. An actuation system in a scissor lift is driven by prescribing the extension of the actuator. This enables you to perform an inverse dynamics simulation and calculate the force required to produce that motion. Joints in Simscape Multibody can be connected to electrical, hydraulic, and other types of actuation systems modeled in Simscape. This makes it possible to detect integration issues and assess system-level performance in a single simulation environment.
