Non-Obvious Relational Awareness Analysis for Diesel Engine Fluid Consumption
Brian J. Ouellette, Cummins Inc.
Using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), Cummins is able to reduce diesel engine NOx emission to near-zero levels. With SCR, development engineers need to analyze large volumes of field data to assess system performance prior to production launch to minimize diesel exhaust fluid consumption. To assist in these analyses, Cummins developed NORA (Non-Obvious Relational Awareness) using MATLAB® to reduce large-scale data collected in field test vehicles and generate statistical summaries for the engineering community to analyze and determine system performance, seasonal trends, and overall fleet performance. This presentation discusses the NORA analysis process and how it is utilized in making system performance assessments for fluid consumption against on-highway heavy-duty diesel engines.
