Maitreyi is a software engineer specializing in machine learning at MathWorks, where she focuses on enhancing AI Assisted Coding and Generative AI capabilities for MATLAB. Her journey in technology is driven by her profound interest in deep learning and data engineering. She has also worked on various machine learning and computer vision projects in the past. Maitreyi has mentored six fellow engineers on AI projects, showcasing her leadership skills and commitment to fostering talent. Her academic journey laid a solid foundation for her career.
Maitreyi holds a Master’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai. These experiences have honed her technical skills and ignited a passion for leveraging technology to address real-world challenges. One of her most fulfilling experiences was leading the Farm-To-Plate AI workshop at the Grace Hopper Celebration 2023, engaging with over 750 participants. She also presented a poster based on Farm-To-Plate AI at WiML (Women in Machine Learning) research workshop at the flagship AI conference at NeurIPS 2023, sharing her work with a wider audience and engaging in valuable exchanges with fellow AI researchers and practitioners.
A significant career goal for Maitreyi is to create an inclusive path in the tech journey, providing a platform for women and other marginalized groups in tech to excel. She believes in the transformative power of technology and is dedicated to contributing to changes that promote a more diverse and welcoming tech environment. Maitreyi has been actively involved in the broader tech community, participating in workshops, organizations, and conferences such as WiDS (Women in Data Science), Google DevFest, WiT (Women in Tech) at Tufts University, WiML, Black in AI, GHC, NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) Boston, CMG Impact (conference on performance engineering), and the key industry conference MAB (MathWorks Advisory Board). She has taken on various roles, including speaker, teaching assistant, and volunteer. These experiences have facilitated her personal learning and growth and allowed her to contribute to important discussions on diversity and inclusion within the tech industry.
