Syntax

b = dec(a)

Description

b = dec(a) returns the stored integer of fi object a in unsigned decimal format as a character vector.

Fixed-point numbers can be represented as

$r e a l - w o r l d v a l u e = 2^{- f r a c t i o n l e n g t h} \times s t o r e d i n t e g e r$

or, equivalently as

$r e a l - w o r l d v a l u e = (s l o p e \times s t o r e d i n t e g e r) + b i a s$

The stored integer is the raw binary number, in which the binary point is assumed to be at the far right of the word.
