Data Type Agent
R2026bThe Data Type Agent is a set of interactive graphical tools that help you explore tradeoffs between various block parameter settings and fixed-point data types for a subset of blocks in the Fixed-Point Designer HDL Support library.
Fixed-point HDL-optimized blocks have many interdependent parameters that affect precision, hardware resource usage, and latency. Finding the right balance typically requires iterative manual experimentation by changing block parameters or calling functions to compute optimal fixed-point data types. The Data Type Agent provides feedback and visualizations that update as you adjust parameters, allowing you to explore the tradeoff space and see the impact of your selections before applying them to your model.
Note
The Data Type Agent is not an AI-enabled tool. It is a deterministic calculation and visualization tool.
Open the Data Type Agent for Your Block
To open the Data Type Agent, click a supported block in the model. On the Block tab, under Data Type, click the Data Type Agent icon. The version of the agent that opens depends on the type of block you select.
