Set Up, Deploy, and Calibrate Arduino Application Using XCP on CAN
R2026bDeploy a Simulink® model to the Arduino® boards that support XCP on CAN and perform real-time signal monitoring and parameter tuning. Depending on your workflow, you can use Simulink as the host application for external mode communication or generate an A2L file and use a third-party calibration tool such as CANape® or INCA.
Supported Arduino boards include:
Arduino Due
Arduino Uno R4 Wi-Fi®
Arduino Uno R4 Minima
Arduino Nano R4
Teensy 4.0 (Arduino compatible)
Teensy 4.1 (Arduino compatible)
Note
XCP on CAN external mode is supported only on Arduino boards with on-board CAN controllers. Boards that use SPI-based CAN shields (such as MCP2515) are not supported for XCP on CAN communication.
The workflow consists of these steps:
Set Up CAN Hardware on Host Computer for XCP on CAN Communication — Install and configure the host-side CAN hardware and verify communication in Simulink.
Configure Model for XCP on CAN External Mode — Configure XCP on CAN communication settings and deploy the application to Arduino.
Generate A2L File for Third-Party Calibration Tools Using XCP on CAN Host Communication — Generate an A2L file that enables third-party calibration tools to connect to the deployed application for measurement and parameter tuning.
This workflow supports Vector, PEAK-System, and Kvaser CAN hardware.
