Import PMSM Flux Linkage Data from JMAG-RT

This example shows how you can import a motor design from JMAG®-RT into a Simscape™ simulation.

Flux Linkage Data

The data file defining the motor flux linkage and torque is converted from a JMAG-RT model data file, 1k_S_C_IV.rtt, and is included in this example with permission of JSOL Corporation. JMAG-RT model data files are lookup tables for the magnetic flux and torque calculated using JMAG-Designer. You can convert a JMAG-RT model data file into a MATLAB® binary (*.mat) data file using the JMAG-RT Viewer (https://www.jmag-international.com/products/rt-viewer/). The details of this example motor, such as dimensions and rated power, are also accessible from the JMAG-RT Viewer.

Simulation Results from Simscape Logging

The plot below shows the simulated motor currents and shaft torque when the rotor electrical angle leads the stator angle by 90 degrees. Notice the torque contains the harmonic components due to the slots and the magnetic saturation.

Results from Real-Time Simulation

This example has been tested on a Speedgoat Performance real-time target machine with an Intel® 3.5 GHz i7 multi-core CPU. This model can run in real time with a step size of 200 microseconds.
