Please tell me the very basic steps involved in image blending .. and how to go further .. . i want to blend images like ..

You can start with averaging them. Then advance to morphing, creating panoramas, etc. depending on what kind of blending you want to do.

yes sir .. i have done 1st step suggested by u .. also i have tried the equation .. a*i1 + (1-a)*i2 ... now i want to blend the mosaiced image as shown below ...
