Activation complete but won't launch the executable

I have downloaded the necessary files and when I open the executable and go through the activation process of selecting the license from my online account, it completes the activation with no problems but won't open Matlab. If I try and launch the executable again, it asks me to go through the entire activation process again. Can someone help me figure out how to open Matlab once it's activated?

I had the same problem after converting from the free 30-day trial to an officially purchased student license. I called the help number (508-647-7000) and they walked me through deleting the trial license and making sure Matlab went to the newly purchased license. It took all of 5 minutes and I'm up and running.
