I know the webinars are helpful, but I would like to have a friendly user's guide for Simulink.

Hi Richard, There is a nice Simulink tutorial on MathWorks website with all the information you need to start with Simulink: http://www.mathworks.fr/academia/student_center/tutorials/simulink-launchpad.html
It also points to Simulink user's guide.
