Hi. I am working with G-code. I have created a script that opens a G-code file and then creates and a new empty text file. The script that i made so far reads the G-code txt file line by line and then finds and displays all of the lines that follow the format:
G1 X(some number) Y(some number) Z(some number) E(some number).
Now I want to be able to edit the X Y and Z values of these lines by a random amont. For example I would like to add or subtract a very small value like (0.00012) from each of the X Y Z values of everyline. I can do this with a rand function with specified limits.
There are two ways that I think I can go about this: First, I create a script that reads the g-code then organizes all of the XYZ values into a matrix. I can the modify this matrix however I want and save the results into a new matrix.
Here is my code for the matrix method.
What I cannot figute out is how to then put the modified matrix values back into their respecitve spots for every line that follows the format G1 X Y Z E.
How would take the values from output_mat and put them back into the G1 lines and then save this to the output file?
I got the pattern from the internet from someone who was doing something similar. I cannot find anything on the MATLAB wiki about making patterns like that in line 4 '\\s+%c([+-]...etc.'
Can someone link me to were I can learn to specify patterns like this and what each of those symbols means?
My showed my professor my idea for how to do it and he thinks it would be better if I create a script that has a read function that displays the text file line by line, and then edits the G1 lines we want edited, and displays the edited version while saving it to the output file. I was able to do the read and display part but have no idea how to do the editing part. Any input would be appreciated.
