Exit uitable cell edit when a button press occurs outside the table.

I have a GUI with a table that allows the user to modify data. I would like to have the capability for the user to push a button outside the table while the cursor is blinking (cell edit mode) inside a table and have the GUI exit the table and execute the button call. This is a common feature in excel. The user does not have to hit enter to complete the cell entry if they click a button outside the cell. Currently, clicking a button outside the table just completes the cell edit and therefore requires the user to click the button again.
