I'm not exactly sure what you mean. These lines of code convert an image stored in a disk file into a variable in your MATLAB program.
grayImage = imread(fullFileName);
rgbImage = imread(fullFileName);
To display them, do this:
imshow(grayImage);
imshow(rgbImage);
Those lines of code take the image in the variable and make it an image on your computer screen.
