When I try to run the MathWorks Product Installer, I eventually run into an error reading, "Unable to write to the selected folder." How do I resolve this?

On Windows, this error may occur due to the following reasons:

The MathWorks Product Installer is attempting to write to a folder that the user running it does not have permission to write to.
If the MathWorks Product Installer is not running with full administrative privileges. Attempting to select any folder will result in this error.

On Linux:

This occurs when running the installer without sudo and trying to install in a sudo-required folder (such as the default location, /usr/local/MATLAB/R20XXy).

To get around, either run the installer with sudo or select a different location which doesn't require sudo. For more information on how to install MATLAB on Linux, follow the documentation below:
