Why the OCR predicts two similar images differently

Hello all.
I am attaching two similar images (just different in the pixels number - one is cropped while the odeth isn't). Why the following code works differently between both of them?
ocr((imread('test1.jpg')),'TextLayout','Block')
ocr((imread('test3.jpg')),'TextLayout','Block')
