Error in the Character recognition program.

I tried this character recognition matlab file
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/8676 and I got this error
??? Reference to non-existent field 'charvec'.
Error in ==> charGUI2>pbRecognize_Callback at 184 charvec = handles.charvec;
Error in ==> gui_mainfcn at 96 feval(varargin{:});
Error in ==> charGUI2 at 42 gui_mainfcn(gui_State, varargin{:});
??? Error while evaluating uicontrol Callback_
How to solve this error?

To cross-check: do you have both the image processing and neural network toolboxes installed (and licensed) ?
