Fonts are too small when MATLAB figs are generated in Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS)

I usually use MATLAB (MATLAB 2008) in Windows OS and generate figure files with user-defined font size and type (font size and type are mentioned in the code). I usually use font 14 or larger (and in some cases in boldface) for the titles, axes and legends to be legible. However, when I run the same codes (MATLAB 2008) in Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS), the font sizes of the generated figures are too small even to read. Any solution?
