This error indicates that MATLAB has encountered a licensing issue. To resolve this error, try these possible solutions:
Ensure you are using a qualified Operating System
This error can occur if you are using an unqualified Operating System. To view the qualified Operating Systems, please refer to the MATLAB System Requirements. Restart MATLAB
If MATLAB is running, shut it down and restart it to see if that resolves the issue.
Restart the MathWorks Service Host/Computer
The MathWorks Service Host is a critical required part of the MathWorks software installed on your machine. Try resolving the issue by restarting your computer.
- Shut down MATLAB if it is still running.
- Restart your computer.
- Start MATLAB to see if the issue is resolved.
Reinstall the MathWorks Service Host
Allow MATLAB and the MathWorks Service Host on antivirus, security software, VPNs, or proxy servers
If you have any antivirus, security software, VPNs, or proxy servers, try adding an exception to unblock the MathWorks Service Host. The name of the executable varies by operating system, as shown below.
Windows: MathWorksServiceHost.exe
macOS: MathWorksServiceHost.app
Linux: MathWorksServiceHost
Check for operating system updates
Check your operating system for updates, and then download and install those updates.
(Ubuntu 24.04 LTS only) Ensure the libgbm1 library is up to date
This error is thrown due to an incompatible system library which is conflicting with one of the libraries we ship with the MathWorks Service Host. Upgrading libgbm1 to the latest version should resolve this.
This can be upgraded by running the commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install --only-upgrade libgbm1
