Some generic suggestion:
- parameters matter a lot in thermo-fluids systems. try your best to make the parameters in EVERY block as reasonable as possible.
- Use test harness models to verify the parameters of each component reproduces the behavior as seen in the reference/test data. Test harness typically includes reservoirs as boundary conditions, the component in question in the middle, and ideal source, if needed, to drive flows.
- pay close attention to initial conditions. Some blocks may be parametrized to work only within a certain range of conditions and may not drift to the right condition if started outside the range.
