Change the uitabgroup's tab color or font color?

Is it possible to change the uitabgroup's tab color or font color? e.g. I set the background color of uitabgroup to dark, so it would be better to set the color of tabs also to dark than the default light gray color.

h = uitabgroup();
set(h, 'defaultUitabForegroundColor', [.2 .3 .4])
t1 = uitab(h, 'Title', 'Test 1');
get(t1, 'ForegroundColor')
Setting the font color is more difficult, and I have to ask "font for what, exactly" ?

Why not put a panel with buttons in front of the tab control?!? The buttons callbacks emulate the tab selection. An app designed in Matlab doesn't need to be ugly! :)

Had the same problem. I am trying this for couple days now, almost thought about re-writing the whole GUI programmatically just to make my tabs behave the way I want. I hope next Matlab version will include this
