matrix data to surface

Hi. Sorry if this is a basic question, but i've searched and i haven't been able to understand it by muself. I have a matrix that results on something like:
5 10 15 20
100 10 20 40 50
200 35 45 65 70
300 50 65 80 90
I want a surface graph with that column (areas) and row (volume), and in excel this is pretty basic but here when i use the surface function i can only submit the inside numbers (the 3x4 matrix). Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Inês

surf(X,Y,[10 20 40 50;35 45 65 70;50 65 80 90]);
