How to find the LM_LICENSE_FILE in an institutional license (online verification)

My institute provides the MATLAB license. So I do not have a license.dat file for the MATLAB 2020a installed.
I'm trying to generate code from XIlinx System Generator, and I have a valid .lic file for that (generated today and installed).
Yet I get the following error:
Sysgen license checkout failed.
XILINXD_LICENSE_FILE = C:\Xilinx\Xilinx.lic
LM_LICENSE_FILE =
Looks like I need to set the environment variable LM_LICENSE_FILE to the license.dat file, according to a few posts here. How to go this when I do not have it ?
Please help.
