Stripchart using Subplot function

I am trying to get about 7 to 9 plots on one figure as a strip chart for railroad geometry car measurements (track chart, left and right profile, left and right alignment, warp, speed, etc.) I would like to have all these on one figure but when I put any more than 5 the plots are basically useless and too scrunched. Any solutions?
