how can i consider the limit of the summation as a variable in the linear programing

Dear all,
i have a general question, if any of you has a background about
in one of the constraints i have :
summation of (i-1 : 10) beta(i)
where beta is the variable.
can i make that 10 as a variable as well ?
the constraint will be :
sum of (i=1:N) beta(i)
or it is not possible ?

When you say make it a variable, do you mean that it is a value to be determined by the linear programming, or do you mean that you want to know how to build the constraint matrix entry given a particular N ?
