Trouble with function returning a variable which has a image set

I have a function which creates patches for the given image. It returns a cell which contains all the patches. If the image I pass is of some format 350*350*3. It works well but if the image is of format 256*150 , it returns the cell with empty images. Funny thing is if i debug the code it create the patches inside the cell fine , but when its returning those patches inside the cell, the cell becomes empty. Code Attached
