Using NDVI for making out some areas in satellite images (Geotiff image From USGS)

Hi there,
In a scholarly paper named "Satellite Remote Sensing of Wheat Infected by Wheat streak mosaic virus" the authours mentioned of masking out all nonwheat areas (e.g., native grassland, etc.) using normalised difference vegetation index (NDVI = Band4 – Band3 / Band4 + Band3).
The first two step of their method is as follows: Step A):
Description of part A) : False color composite Landsat 5 Thematic Mapper (TM) image.
and then from A) to B):
Description of part B) : Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) image.
I got a sample from USGS, and by using ArcGis 10.4, I tried to follow the proposed method, I got The following images as A and B.
Any Idea, how to get the desired images?
Thank you.
