Audio classification- complete newbie!

Hello
I have only just started using Matlab and want to learn how to create a model that can differentiate between, for example, human speech and a car engine. I have opened the classification learner app and have a sound file library with plenty of examples of both noise types, however I don't know how to load these to Matlab for classification/ feature selection. It is my understanding that only spreadsheet type data can be entered, however how would one go about entering data from audio?
Any help is much appreciated,

When you have no idea what function might help you, learn to use lookfor. In this case, I might advise starting with
lookfor audio
