keep variable names between 2 code generations

I want to know if it's possible to keep variable names in C generated code when only a only few changes are done in the model between 2 code generations.
For example, I have a model which I generate the code. Then I do changes in this model and I regenerate the code. A lot of variables may be renamed and cause many changes in the code; and not only according to the changes in the model.
