study of fault location algorithms

i am doing project on fault location algorithms. i am implementing one end impedance based algorithms. while implementing algorithms using discrete fourier transform, i am getting error in fault calcuation, the actual location calculation is varying with variation of samples. i took sample time 1ms . can any one provide a solution to reduce error in fault calculation in one end impdedance based algorihtms

What error message are you seeing? Or is it producing a number but the number is not what you are expecting?
