You can't use xlswrite() since that will write the workbook to disk. You will have to use ActiveX if you're on Windows. You can launch Excel as an ActiveX server, open a new workbook and throw your data in there, and leave Excel Open. Don't save the workbook. The user can then choose to save it or not. Attached is an ActiveX Excel demo. Adapt as needed (like take the saving command out of it).

So my Gui creates a pass/fail report. I don't need it to save the file in the folder. I actually don't want it to do that. I need it to generate a report that the user can see and then decide if they want to save it or not. I can't figure out how to make the gui pop up the results.
