can anyone help in finding the adjacent frame differences?

I have already extracted frames from a video. Now i have to find the difference between the adjacent frames and compare that difference value to a threshold value. Those having greater difference values have to be stored differently and finally the new video has to be formed from these separated frames. It would be really helpful if anyone can help. Thank you.
