How can I delay a chirp signal for signal processing?

I have a question, how can i delay a signal?
Code:
t = 0:1/1e3:2;
signal = chirp(t,0,2,250);
signal_delay=? (for example delay is 1s)

t=1;
delay=t*1e3; %delay of 1 seconds
z=zeros(1,delay); %delay is the no. of delay samples
signal=[z,signal];
you can also use delayseq
