You first have to get the indices of which elements are preserved. With those you can construct new elevation, and length vectors. Something like this:
[lat2,lon2] = reducem(lat,lon);
[~,idx] = intersect(lat,lat2,'stable');
elevation2=elevation(idx);
length2=length(idx);
