How to track a moving object in a live camera feed.

I am looking to create a program that can select a certain region of interest of a live video feed. Then it will be able to track the region of interest of the video by centering it in the video preview frame. The camera/microscope I will be using allows for the stage to move in order to center said region of interest and has the capacity to move every 1 second.
