how to remove fog pixel noise without blurring the image

I want to remove white pixels formed due to fog . I tried spatial filtering and inpainting but result was not satisfactory. Can u suggest any method to remove this white pixels by preserving fine details of the image.

It's been done by the University of Dayton (Ohio).

Depends on how you want to do it. You can do a linear stretch with imadjust(). Or you can apply some kind of gamma function to it to amplify dark values and compress bright values.

i did it already sir, but the result is not up to expected. i want a clear image after fog removal. thank you sir for your suggestions
