restoredefaultpath resets pause/stop buttons during execution of a livescript

On MATLAB 2021a if I run the following in a livescript
restoredefaultpath;
for i=1:5
disp(i)
pause(1);
end
Then the pause/stop buttons in the ribbon area "Live Editor"->"Run" get reset to 'run' so that I can't pause the execution of the script. This does not occur if restoredefaultpath is commented out. Closing the scipt file in the editor does not stop execution either, so the only way to stop a long running script is to close the instance of MATLAB.
This does not affect normal .m script files or a live function file.
