Projects cartesian coordinates system onto a curvilinear coordinate system

This function projects the vectors defined at each location of a line in a cartesian coordinates system onto a curvilinear coordinate system defined by the line itself.
The new curvilinear abcissa becomes x1, and the vectors components u,v become u1,v1 in the new system
See example for an illustration.
