DoS is a high-performance algorithm with a distinctive framework that differs from traditional algorithms. Its design principle is inspired by dogfight behavior and constructed on the basis of displacement integral equations. In the original paper, we experimentally evaluated DoS against seven advanced competitors and three SOTA algorithms on the multidimensional CEC2017 and CEC2022 benchmark test functions. The results showed that the performance of DoS was significantly better than that of the advanced competitors and even surpassed the SOTA algorithms. In addition, we also assessed DoS against advanced competitors on ten real-world engineering optimization problems and a mountainous trajectory planning problem. The experimental results further demonstrated that DoS has significantly better applicability than the advanced competitors in real-world engineering optimization problems and mountainous trajectory planning.
