🔹 Overview
This project presents a 3-phase balanced delta (Δ) connected network modeled using MATLAB Simscape. It is designed to help students understand the relationship between line and phase quantities in delta-connected systems.
🔹 Model Description
The Simscape model includes:
- Three-phase AC voltage sources
- Balanced delta-connected resistive load
- Measurement blocks for:
- Line currents (IR, IY, IB)
- Phase currents (IRR’, IYY’, IBB’)
- Line voltages (VRY, VYB, VBR)
- Scope for waveform visualization
🔹 Key Concepts Demonstrated
- Balanced three-phase system
- Delta (Δ) connection characteristics
- Relationship between line current and phase current
- Equality of line voltage and phase voltage
- 120° phase displacement between phases
🔹 Simulation Observations
- Line voltage equals phase voltage
- Line current is √3 times phase current
- Line current is phase-shifted by 30° relative to phase current
- System exhibits symmetrical balanced waveforms
🔹 Mathematical Relations
Line voltage:
V_L = V_Ph
Line current:
I_L = √3 × I_Ph
Phase angle relation:
I_L lags I_Ph by 30°
🔹 How to Run
- Open the .slx model file in MATLAB
- Run the simulation
- Observe current and voltage waveforms in Scope
- Compare simulation results with theoretical values
🔹 Applications
- Power system analysis
- Electrical machine connections
- Industrial power distribution
- Teaching and laboratory experiments
