Spilhaus-like projection
A function that takes geographic coordinates and converts them into (x, y) coordinates for a projection based on ESRI's Spilhaus projection.
This function projects geographic coordinates to a world-in-a-square map very similar to that produced by ESRI, based on the information given by Šavrič, Burrows, and Kennedy (2026) and the equations published by Adams (1929).
When creating pseudocolor maps from the projected data, it can be necessary to trim a few pixels off the edges to avoid streaks across the image.
